Job Description

  • Overview
  • Precision Flooring Systems is seeking an organized and experienced Flooring Project Manager to join our team.
The ideal candidate will own commercial flooring projects from start to finish: estimating, preparing proposals, and winning the work, then managing it through installation and closeout. The role makes sure every job is priced competitively and installed on schedule, within budget, and to our quality standards. The Flooring Project Manager works closely with general contractors, owners, installers, field supervision and suppliers, and is the primary point of contact for our customers from the first bid to the final walkthrough. This role plays a vital part in bringing in new business, protecting margins, and building the long-term relationships that lead to repeat work.
  • Duties
  • Estimating & Proposals
  • Review bid invitations, plans, finish schedules, and specifications to determine project scope and requirements.
  • Perform material takeoffs and prepare detailed, accurate estimates for commercial flooring projects using estimating software.
  • Calculate material, labor, equipment, freight, and floor preparation costs, and get pricing from suppliers and manufacturers.
  • Prepare and submit professional proposals and bids, including clear scopes of work, inclusions, exclusions, and alternates.
  • Follow up on submitted bids, answer customer questions, and attend scope review meetings to help win new work.
  • Maintain organized records of estimates, bids, and proposals, and track win/loss results.
  • Monitor material prices, lead times, and new products to keep pricing current and competitive.
  • Project Management
  • Manage multiple commercial flooring projects at once, from contract award through final closeout.
  • Review contracts and confirm awarded scope, materials, and schedule against the original estimate.
  • Prepare and process submittals, samples, shop drawings, and product data for approval.
  • Order materials, coordinate deliveries with suppliers, and track lead times to keep projects on schedule.
  • Schedule and coordinate installation crews and subcontractors with the general contractor's timeline.
  • Attend pre-construction and progress meetings and visit job sites regularly to check progress, quality, and site readiness (including moisture testing and floor prep).
  • Track project costs, labor, and materials against budget, and identify issues early.
  • Prepare, price, and negotiate change orders, and keep clear records of all changes.
  • Submit pay applications and work with accounting to support billing and collections.
  • Handle punch lists, warranty items, closeout documents, and attic stock.
  • Communicate proactively with customers, general contractors, and internal teams on schedule, issues, and solutions.
  • Promote safe work practices on all job sites.
  • Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in commercial flooring estimating and/or project management (subcontractor experience preferred).
  • Proficiency with flooring or construction estimating and takeoff software (such as Measure Square, On Center/On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, or similar).
  • Working knowledge of commercial flooring products and installation, such as carpet tile, LVT, resilient sheet, rubber, tile, and floor preparation.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, finish schedules, and specifications.
  • Solid understanding of material and labor costs for commercial flooring installations.
  • Experience writing proposals and scopes of work, and managing submittals, change orders, pay applications, and job costs.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple bids and projects at once while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with customers, crews, and suppliers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
  • Knowledge of OSHA and job site safety standards; OSHA 10 or 30 is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to job sites throughout Central Ohio. This position offers an opportunity to make a direct impact on our company's growth by winning new work and delivering projects our customers want to repeat. We welcome motivated professionals who take ownership of their work and want to grow with a dynamic commercial flooring team.
