Job Description

Director of Construction Job Description The Director of Construction leads the overall strategy, operations, and performance of a commercial construction division. This role oversees multiple projects simultaneously, manages and mentors high-performing teams, and drives business development initiatives to support growth. The Director of Construction ensures effective construction management, strong financial performance, and high-quality project delivery across the business unit. Responsibilities Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the construction division, aligning operations with organizational goals and long-term growth plans. Own and manage the profit and loss (P&L) performance for the division, ensuring projects meet financial targets and operational efficiency standards. Lead business development efforts, including identifying new opportunities, building client relationships, and supporting the pursuit of new commercial construction projects. Oversee multiple commercial construction projects concurrently, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality and safety standards. Lead, build, and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Direct construction management and project management activities, ensuring clear communication, effective planning, and smooth project execution. Oversee project coordination and preconstruction efforts, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation. Guide the preparation, negotiation, and administration of construction contracts to protect the organization's interests and ensure compliance with project requirements. Review and approve change orders, ensuring that scope changes are properly documented, priced, and communicated to stakeholders. Oversee the management of requests for information (RFIs), ensuring timely responses and resolution of issues that may impact project scope, schedule, or cost. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to optimize processes, improve project delivery, and support business unit operations. Qualifications At least 10 years of experience in commercial construction, with progressive responsibility in project and division leadership. Proven ability to manage multiple construction projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and client satisfaction. Demonstrated experience leading teams in a construction environment, including mentoring, performance management, and organizational development. Experience overseeing business unit operations, including financial performance, resource planning, and process improvement. Experience in business development within the construction industry, including identifying opportunities and supporting client relationships. Hands-on experience with commercial construction projects, including field operations and office-based coordination. Experience managing change orders, including evaluation of scope changes, cost impacts, and schedule implications. Ability to oversee and respond to RFIs (Requests for Information) to resolve design and construction issues promptly. Strong skills in project coordination and preconstruction planning, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk assessment. Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills, with the ability to influence and guide diverse teams. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Exton, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $200000.00/yr. 401k, esop, full benefits package Workplace Type This is a fully onsite position in Exton,PA.
