Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Site Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day construction functions on all worksites. The Supervisor will ensure that quality building standards and building schedules are always maintained. In addition, the Site Supervisor will supervise all volunteers. The Supervisor will also serve as a liaison to all construction-related vendors on-site as well as with homebuyers performing their sweat equity hours.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises all facets of construction including, but not limited to, framing, exterior finishing, drywall, carpentry, flooring, and finishing in new and rehab construction projects. Ensures the safety of all construction staff and volunteers making sure to set safety expectations and follow relevant incident reporting and emergency protocol on site as needed. Responsible for volunteer supervision during the construction and/or rehab of Habitat homes, completing of warranty replated work associated with home builds, and executing preservation activities while ensuring a quality volunteer experience and end product by providing manageable tasks, training, and coaching. Assists the Director of Construction in establishing and updating all construction schedules, and keeping the Project Manager informed of material changes to timeline. Maintains construction schedule, providing coordination of all internal and external resources including staff scheduling, managing potential concerns, and preparing for contingencies to ensure timely project completion. Serves as the site-liaison to all construction-related subcontractors and vendors to coordinate schedules, maintain inventory, and ensure quality workmanship. Provides an appropriate and timely response to all home warranty issues in the absence of the Director of Construction and provides timely updates to Director of Program Services for continuity. Facilitate construction meetings with the Director of Construction, providing information regarding construction project schedules, practices, and volunteer programs. Works with the members of the board and skilled construction volunteers to gain and leverage professional knowledge and best practices. Serves as an ambassador for Habitat for Humanity with all volunteers, presenting accurate, compelling information about the affiliate and Habitat for Humanity International. Assists in the overall administration of all construction matters in the absence of the Director of Construction, including (but not limited to) accounts payable, budget, and coordination of construction-related donations. Protects Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery and Delaware Counties from liability, including matters of safety and construction. Reports potential concerns to the Director of Construction in a timely manner. Meets site deadlines and performs duties until complete, sometimes outside of normal business hours. Front loads construction sites with materials needed for coming day(s) as needed, minimizing mid-day runs for material when there are volunteers present on site, especially build days. Opens and closes construction sites each day, verifying that materials are safe and secure at the end of each shift. Maintains, organizes, and logs all Habitat tools associated with the Construction Department. Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of and experience in residential construction and
IRC 2018
Code Standards. Strong supervisory and training skills, particularly in diverse groups. Strong organizational and time management skills. Knowledge of construction safety best practices. Excellent project planning, implementation, and execution strategies. High energy level, a strong sense of initiative, creative problem-solving, flexibility, discretion, leadership. Ability to work with diverse groups. Must be punctual at the job site. The ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously. Friendly, engaging, and professional manner.
Computer Skills Required:
Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Strong communication skills:
both oral and written.
PHYSICAL
Physical functions required in the job include construction work as well as driving of any size, sitting, walking, and standing; use of hands to manipulate objects; reaching with hands and arms; fluent speech; adequate vision and hearing; not afraid of heights, and the ability to lift heavy objects as well as sit for extended periods of time.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or related experience preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Experience in owner-occupied renovation a plus. Experience working with and through volunteers. Demonstrated success in supervision including development, coaching, and evaluation. Demonstrated ability to delegate with authority and integrity. Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to engage and organize staff and volunteers to meet program goals.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS A
valid driver's license, reliable transportation, clean driving record, and willingness to travel as needed are required. Employment contingent upon completion of successful background check and child abuse clearance.
