Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mechanical Superintendent - Underground Utilities to lead and oversee complex underground utility construction projects in the surrounding area of the Eastern Panhandle for Southwest PA, MD, Northern VA, and WV . This pivotal role involves managing all aspects of mechanical installation, ensuring safety compliance, maintaining project schedules, and supervising teams on-site. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in underground utility - construction management, excellent leadership skills, and a thorough understanding of underground utility systems to deliver projects efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. This role offers an exciting opportunity to drive infrastructure projects from inception to completion in a dynamic environment. Duties Lead and supervise all mechanical activities related to underground utilities construction, including piping, conduit installation, and associated infrastructure. Coordinate project schedules using Primavera P6 or HeavyBid to ensure timely delivery while managing resources effectively. Review construction drawings, schematics, and technical specifications to verify accuracy and facilitate smooth execution. Manage subcontractors and crew members, providing clear direction, supervision, and performance feedback to ensure safety and quality standards are met. Oversee construction safety protocols in compliance with OSHA and federal construction safety regulations; conduct regular safety audits and toolbox talks. Monitor project budgets, track costs, and implement cost control measures without compromising quality or safety. Utilize construction management software such as ProCore, Bluebeam, and Primavera to document progress, manage change orders, and facilitate communication among stakeholders. Conduct regular site inspections to ensure adherence to technical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications; interpret blueprints accurately. Manage procurement of materials and equipment necessary for underground utility installation; coordinate delivery schedules. Ensure quality control through rigorous inspection of work performed; document issues using Bluebeam or similar tools for resolution tracking. Qualifications
- 7-10 years of experience in heavy civil, utility, or water/wastewater construction.
- Minimum of 5 years serving as a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.
- Experience constructing water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, or industrial process facilities preferred.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical piping systems, underground water and sewer utilities, concrete structures, pump stations, lift stations, process equipment installation, and rigging/equipment setting.
- Ability to read civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and process drawings.
- Excellent leadership, planning, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and conflict-resolution abilities.
- OSHA 30 Certification preferred.
- CPR/First Aid Certification preferred.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record. Preferred Experience
