Job Title:
Superintendent of Construction Job Description The Superintendent of Construction oversees commercial construction projects from start to finish, ensuring work progresses safely, efficiently, and in accordance with plans, codes, and client expectations. This role focuses on managing subcontractors, coordinating active job sites, and maintaining thorough documentation, with particular emphasis on work performed in occupied facilities. Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day field operations for commercial construction projects, ensuring work meets quality, safety, and schedule requirements. Manage and coordinate subcontractors on active construction sites, including scheduling, supervision, and performance oversight. Monitor progress of work in occupied facilities, minimizing disruption to ongoing operations while maintaining a safe and orderly environment. Ensure all construction activities comply with relevant codes, regulations, and project specifications. Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including daily reports, logs, inspections, and site records. Collaborate with project management to track schedules, identify potential delays, and implement corrective actions. Use construction management software, including Procore, to manage project information, documentation, and communication. Implement and enforce safety procedures on site in alignment with OSHA 30 standards and company policies. Coordinate inspections and resolve field issues promptly to keep the project moving forward. Support renovation projects in active postal or similar operational facilities, ensuring work is phased and coordinated appropriately. Essential Skills Proven experience in commercial construction supervision. Demonstrated experience managing subcontractors on active construction sites. Strong documentation skills, including maintaining logs, reports, and project records. Experience working in occupied facilities and coordinating construction around ongoing operations. Construction management knowledge, including scheduling, sequencing, and field coordination. Hands-on experience with construction supervision in renovation environments. Proficiency with Procore or similar construction management software. Knowledge of OSHA 30 safety standards and ability to enforce safety practices on site. Strong project management and organizational skills. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and related documents. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with renovation projects in active postal or similar operational facilities. Experience in construction management or related field. Familiarity with commercial renovation best practices and phasing strategies. Strong communication skills for coordinating with subcontractors, project teams, and facility stakeholders. Ability to anticipate field challenges and proactively resolve issues. Work Environment This role is primarily site-based in commercial construction environments, including active and occupied facilities where normal business operations continue during renovation. The Superintendent works closely with subcontractors, project managers, and facility representatives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting. The position requires regular presence on the construction site, adherence to safety protocols aligned with OSHA 30 standards, and effective use of construction management tools such as Procore. Work may involve navigating active postal or similar facilities, coordinating work phases to minimize disruption, and operating in areas where construction activities and daily operations occur simultaneously. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Chester, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
