Position Overview:
TRUE Builders is seeking a high-impact Business Development leader with a proven network and book of business in the Chicago commercial construction market. We are looking for someone who can immediately elevate TRUE Builders' visibility and generate new opportunities. If you have strong relationships with developers, owners, architects, brokers, and municipal stakeholders -and know how to turn those relationships into real projects, this is an opportunity to step into a more entrepreneurial platform. This role is for a relationship-driven professional who wants the autonomy to build, influence, and win.
Key Responsibilities:
Driving Relationships That Turn into Projects
  • Create and build relationships with key partners, including developers, owners, and investors, architects and engineers, brokers and owner representatives, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers, municipal stakeholders (villages, counties, agencies, etc.)
  • Position TRUE Builders as a trusted partner early in the project lifecycle Generating and Converting Opportunities
  • Leverage your existing network to introduce TRUE Builders to active and upcoming projects
  • Foster and sustain relationships to create a consistent pipeline for the firm's third-party construction services
  • Identify and pursue opportunities across targeted market sectors Leading Preconstruction Strategy
  • Develop pre-construction budgets and timelines based on project specifications, owner expectations, municipal requirements, and internal capacity and workload.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align strategy and execution Navigating Entitlements & Approvals
  • Assess each project to identify required municipalities, villages, and counties, highway departments and governing agencies, and associations and regulatory bodies.
  • Design and manage a comprehensive approval strategy, including step-by-step processes, schedules and timelines, and checklists and submission requirements.
  • Guide projects through early-stage planning to position TRUE Builders for award
Qualifications:
This role is designed for someone who already operates at a high level in the Chicago market: 8-15+ years of experience in commercial construction, development, or real estate A strong, active book of business in the Chicago market Demonstrated success generating project opportunities and backlog Deep understanding of preconstruction, entitlement processes, and municipal approvals Strong credibility with developers, owners, and industry partners
