$95,000 - $128,000 per year, based on experience About Unity Solar Group Unity Solar Group is a growing solar development and installation company focused on commercial solar projects across Illinois. Our team specializes in delivering high-quality solar energy solutions for businesses, municipalities, nonprofit organizations, and large-scale facilities. We are seeking an experienced Solar Construction Manager to oversee field construction, installation crews, subcontractors, and day-to-day site execution for commercial solar PV projects. Position Overview The Solar Construction Manager will be responsible for managing the on-site construction and installation of commercial solar PV systems. This role is focused on field execution, crew coordination, subcontractor oversight, construction quality, safety compliance, and ensuring work is completed according to approved plans, timelines, and code requirements. The ideal candidate must have hands-on solar construction experience and the ability to manage installation crews, electricians, subcontractors, inspectors, and field logistics across multiple commercial solar projects. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily field construction activities for commercial solar PV projects Manage installation crews, electricians, and subcontractors on-site Ensure work is completed according to approved plans, engineering drawings, and construction documents Coordinate material deliveries, equipment needs, and field logistics Conduct site walks, progress checks, and quality control inspections Ensure compliance with safety regulations, OSHA standards, and company safety procedures Coordinate with internal project teams regarding site progress, construction issues, and schedule updates Assist with utility interconnection, inspections, commissioning, and project closeout Identify and resolve field construction issues to keep projects moving efficiently Track labor progress, site conditions, change order items, and construction delays Communicate regularly with leadership regarding project status and field needs Maintain organized field documentation, photos, inspection notes, and construction updates Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of experience in solar construction or construction management Direct experience overseeing commercial solar installations is required Strong understanding of solar PV systems, electrical systems, and construction practices Experience with commercial rooftop and/or ground-mounted solar projects Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, single-line diagrams, and construction plans Experience managing installation crews, electricians, and subcontractors Strong field leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to coordinate multiple job sites and construction schedules Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout Illinois Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Procore, and/or construction management tools preferred Preferred Qualifications Experience with commercial or industrial solar projects of 100kW or larger Familiarity with utility interconnection, inspections, and commissioning OSHA 30 certification preferred NABCEP certification preferred, but not required Experience working with municipalities, utilities, inspectors, and permitting departments Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $80,000 - $120,000 per year, based on experience Performance-based bonuses Health insurance Opportunity for growth within a rapidly expanding commercial solar division How to Apply Please submit your resume along with a summary of your commercial solar construction and field management experience.
