Job Description

Construction Superintendent Position Overview The Superintendent is responsible for the overall execution and day-to-day leadership of commercial construction projects, with full ownership of field operations, safety, schedule, quality, and subcontractor coordination. This role works in close partnership with the Project Manager and serves as the primary on-site authority, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and ahead of schedule whenever possible. The position also plays a key role in maintaining strong relationships with owners, architects, and trade partners while upholding established construction processes and standards. Key Responsibilities Assume full responsibility for on-site construction operations and project execution. Partner closely with the Project Manager to align field activity with overall project goals, budget, and schedule. Maintain expert-level knowledge of project plans, specifications, and construction requirements. Participate in preconstruction activities, providing constructability input and planning support. Lead mandatory preconstruction meetings with subcontractors prior to mobilization. Monitor and enforce quality control standards throughout the project lifecycle. Ensure adherence to established construction procedures, processes, and documentation requirements. Develop, maintain, and communicate the master project schedule and short-term look-ahead schedules. Present updated schedules during subcontractor and coordination meetings. Complete and maintain daily reports in project management systems and shared drives. Properly document project progress and subcontractor performance. Track and ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment. Facilitate and lead weekly subcontractor coordination meetings. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite and construction trailer environment. Enforce safety programs and guidelines to ensure a safe and compliant jobsite. Oversee punch list activities and ensure timely completion of all owner, architect, and trade items. Manage and oversee erosion control and SWPPP compliance activities. Train, mentor, and support Assistant Superintendents and assigned field staff. Serve as the primary on-site relationship manager with owners, architects, and district representatives. Qualifications Experience in a Superintendent Role on commercial construction projects. Prior experience on K-12 or educational facilities projects is needed. Strong working knowledge of all construction trades and sequencing. Demonstrated ability to manage schedules, budgets, and subcontractor coordination in real time. Proficiency with scheduling and construction management tools such as Microsoft Project, submittal tracking systems, and digital plan management platforms. Strong communication skills, with the ability to proactively coordinate manpower, material deliveries, and trade activities.
