Job Description

About the Role We are seeking an exceptional Senior Principal Architect to join our firm as a senior leader and rainmaker. This individual will serve as the face of the firm on major projects — commanding client confidence from the first conversation, closing engagements, and driving projects from initial concept through construction completion. This is not a production role. It is a leadership role that demands equal parts design vision, business acumen, and the ability to build and inspire a high-performing team. Key Responsibilities Client Leadership & Business Development Serve as the primary client relationship holder on major engagements, establishing trust and credibility from the first meeting Lead pursuits, proposals, and presentations; actively participate in closing new project work Cultivate long-term client relationships that generate repeat business and referrals Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and in professional organizations Project Leadership Lead all phases of projects from programming and schematic design through construction administration and project closeout Establish project scope, schedule, and fee structure in collaboration with firm leadership Delegate effectively to a team of Project Managers and Project Architects, providing clear direction and maintaining accountability throughout production Serve as the senior decision-maker and problem-solver for any technical, contractual, or construction-related challenges that arise across the life of a project Maintain design intent and quality standards through all phases, including construction Design & Technical Oversight Set the design direction and vision for complex, large-scale projects Provide technical oversight across all project types, ensuring code compliance, constructability, and coordination with engineering disciplines Review and approve deliverables at major milestones to ensure quality and alignment with client expectations Firm Leadership Participate in firm-wide strategic planning, goal-setting, and leadership discussions Mentor and develop junior and mid-level staff; foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and growth Collaborate with other principals and studio leaders to allocate resources effectively across the firm's project portfolio Contribute to the development and refinement of firm standards, processes, and best practices Support marketing and business development efforts, including thought leadership, award submissions, and portfolio development Required Qualifications Licensed Architect (AIA membership preferred) Minimum 15+ years of progressive experience in architecture, with significant tenure at a senior level Demonstrated experience leading projects valued at $100 million or greater in construction cost A portfolio that includes, at minimum: Medium-rise towers — both commercial and residential strongly preferred Podium deck mixed-use development Hotel / hospitality projects Medical Office Building Proven ability to lead client meetings, present design concepts, and close project engagements Experience establishing project scope, schedules, and budgets, and delegating execution to project teams Track record of successfully delivering complex, multi-phase projects through construction completion Strong working knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, and construction administration processes Preferred Qualifications Existing client relationships in the Austin market
Pay:
$140,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
