Role:
The Superintendent will oversee and coordinate all on-site construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This role requires managing subcontractors, monitoring construction progress, and enforcing safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment. The Superintendent will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to address any issues that arise and ensure constructability standards are met. They will also be responsible for pre-construction planning, including reviewing project plans and schedules to optimize workflow and resource allocation. Ultimately, the Superintendent plays a critical role in delivering high-quality commercial construction projects that meet or exceed client expectations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial construction supervision or management. Proven knowledge of construction safety standards and OSHA regulations. Demonstrated experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple trades on-site. Strong understanding of pre-construction processes and constructability reviews.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification such as OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety or Certified Construction Manager (CCM). Experience with masonry and demolition operations in commercial construction projects. Familiarity with construction management software and scheduling tools. Advanced training in safety management or risk assessment. Previous experience working on large-scale commercial construction projects.
Responsibilities:
Supervise daily construction operations and coordinate subcontractor activities to maintain project schedules. Implement and enforce comprehensive safety management plans to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. Conduct regular site inspections to monitor quality, progress, and adherence to construction plans and specifications. Collaborate with project management and pre-construction teams to review constructability and resolve potential issues before they impact the schedule. Manage demolition and masonry work phases, ensuring proper sequencing and quality standards are maintained. Maintain clear and consistent communication with all stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and internal teams. Prepare and maintain detailed reports on project status, safety incidents, and resource utilization.
Skills:
The Superintendent will apply construction management skills daily to organize and direct complex commercial construction activities efficiently. Expertise in construction safety is critical to developing and enforcing protocols that protect workers and minimize risks on-site. Knowledge of subcontracting allows the Superintendent to effectively coordinate various trades, ensuring seamless collaboration and timely completion of tasks. Pre-construction and constructability skills enable proactive identification and resolution of potential challenges before they affect the project timeline. Additionally, hands-on experience with masonry and demolition work supports the Superintendent in supervising specialized phases of construction with precision and quality control.
