Job Description

Datacenter Project Manager (Electrical Construction)
Location:
South Hill, VA & Charlotte, NC Position Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Commercial Electrical Construction Project Manager to join our team. This role is accountable for managing multiple projects, ensuring quality, profitability, and timely completion, while adding value to the organization and client relationships. The Project Manager will oversee project execution from pre-construction planning through project closeout, coordinating teams, subcontractors, and resources.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Construction:
Plan and prepare all contract administration and project activities. Develop and maintain client relationships. Set up projects, including budgets, Schedule of Values, subcontracts, purchase orders, and material BOMs. Procure subcontractor packages and major materials, ensuring scope alignment and contractor capability. Manage submittal process for project materials and documentation.
VDC/BIM:
Oversee VDC/BIM planning and coordination with project operations and superintendents. Ensure quality control and constructability throughout the project lifecycle.
Pre-Fabrication & Material Management:
Develop pre-fabrication plans with superintendent and operations team. Manage material logistics, procurement, and equipment for the project. Ensure materials meet project specifications and maintain organization on-site.
Scheduling & Resource Management:
Maintain project schedules and manpower projections. Develop field organization charts and adjust schedules as needed.
Subcontractor Management:
Monitor subcontractor work to meet project schedule and quality standards. Manage subcontractor billing and deliverables.
Safety & Quality Control:
Develop and maintain project-specific safety and QA/QC plans. Ensure adherence to safety regulations, project specifications, and company standards. Review project documents, plans, and specifications; resolve construction challenges; and maintain client relationships.
Cost & Change Management:
Manage project scope changes, pricing, and coordination with operations management. Track costs, progress, and projections, providing accurate monthly reporting.
External Relationships:
Build trust and maintain relationships with owners, architects, engineers, trade contractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders. Participate in committees and trade-related activities as needed.
Qualifications:
BS in Construction Management or equivalent experience. 5-10 years of experience in mission-critical or Datacenter project management with an electrical contractor. Strong leadership, process management, and people management skills. Knowledge of financial software, accounting practices, change orders, and billings. Proficiency in budgeting, labor tracking, scheduling, and estimating. Experience reviewing drawings and managing material procurement. Strong communication, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills. Leadership skills and ability to motivate team members. Positive, self-motivated attitude with discretion and professionalism. Experience with Spectrum or other estimation software is a plus.
Work Environment:
Frequent computer work with potential repetitive hand/wrist motions. Must be able to navigate job sites and comply with safety regulations.
