Job Title:
Lead Electrical Superintendent - Data Center Projects Job Description This role leads electrical construction activities for large data center projects across multiple U.S. locations, with a strong focus on switchgear, UPS systems, and overall MEP coordination. You will oversee field operations, scheduling, safety, quality, and documentation while leveraging strong computer skills and construction software to keep complex projects on track. The position is travel-based, supporting projects in several regions and offering long-term contract stability with full benefits. Responsibilities Lead day-to-day electrical and MEP field activities on large data center construction projects, ensuring work aligns with the overall project scope and schedule. Thoroughly understand the project plans, specifications, and overall scope of work to guide field execution and decision-making. Assist in maintaining and updating the project schedule daily using Touchplan or similar scheduling tools. Collaborate with the Project Scheduler and Project Manager to develop and manage progress schedules, including detailed two-week look-ahead schedules. Prepare, maintain, and distribute accurate daily logs and project documentation in Procore. Assist in coordinating and scheduling all required inspections with relevant stakeholders and authorities. Prepare agendas and supporting materials for regular construction and coordination meetings. Enforce site safety standards, security procedures, and visitor access protocols at all times. Monitor and enforce quality standards and workmanship for all finished electrical and MEP installations. Develop and maintain a comprehensive Site Utilization Plan to optimize laydown areas, material flow, and logistics. Maintain an organized phone log and other communication records related to project activities. Prepare pre-punch list items to support efficient project closeout and commissioning. Work closely with the Project Site Engineer to load and maintain all pertinent project information and documentation in Procore. Provide site safety training for personnel on the project and actively enforce safety compliance on the job site. Conduct weekly safety and tool-box talks to reinforce safe work practices and hazard awareness. Secure and manage any hot work permits required for project activities. Lead, coordinate, and support subcontractors and field teams to meet project milestones and performance expectations. Support troubleshooting of electrical and MEP issues in the field, including power distribution, UPS systems, and related data center infrastructure. Collaborate with commissioning teams to ensure systems, including switchgear, UPS, CRAH units, and related equipment, are installed and tested according to project requirements. Essential Skills 7-10 years of experience in electrical construction, commercial construction, or related field supervision roles. Proven experience as a site supervisor or in a construction management role overseeing field operations. Hands-on experience with data center projects and critical power systems (preferred but not strictly required). Strong knowledge of electrical systems including switchgear, power distribution, UPS systems, and substations. Experience with MEP systems and coordination, including HVAC and CRAH units. Proficient computer skills, including the use of construction management and scheduling software. Experience using Procore for project documentation, daily logs, and collaboration. Ability to read and interpret construction schedules, drawings, and blueprints. Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing subcontractors in a construction environment. Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and field staff. Solid understanding of OSHA and construction site safety requirements, with a strong safety-focused attitude. Experience with construction supervision, project management support, and troubleshooting in the field. Additional Skills & Qualifications Electrical experience or formal training in the electrical field (preferred). Experience with data center infrastructure, commissioning, and critical mechanical and electrical systems (beneficial). Experience in mechanical systems and MEP engineering concepts is advantageous. Familiarity with Touchplan or similar scheduling tools for short-interval planning. Experience with commercial and industrial construction environments. Strong organizational skills for managing documentation, logs, and site utilization planning. Willingness to travel between multiple project sites (highly beneficial for this role). Work Environment This is an on-site field role supporting large-scale data center construction projects in locations such as Northern Virginia, Dallas (TX), Atlanta (GA), Las Vegas, Chicago, and Mississippi. You will regularly travel between project sites as needed, with travel, hotel, and related expenses provided (no per diem). The work takes place in active construction environments with heavy electrical and MEP equipment, where adherence to safety protocols and use of appropriate personal protective equipment is essential. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors, using tools such as Procore and Touchplan daily. The position is offered as a long-term (year-plus) contract with full benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k), paid time off, approximately 10 paid holidays, and a monthly cell phone reimbursement. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $105000.00 - $120000.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
