Job Description

Position Summary The Site Coordinator Assistant provides leadership, mentorship, and daily operational support for the Children of the Valley (COV) afterschool program at their assigned site. Reporting to the Site Coordinator, the Site Coordinator assistant is responsible for ensuring the COV mission is reflected in all classroom programming, staff support, family communication, and site administration. This role includes direct assistance to Activity Coordinators, program oversight, and administrative duties such as answering phones and emails, processing paperwork, and maintaining records. The Site Coordinator Assistant also supports classrooms during breaks and lunches and leads activities as needed. This position follows the academic calendar of the local school district; when school is in session, COV is in session. Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Program Oversight Foster a nurturing, culturally responsive, and mission-aligned environment for students, families, and staff Lead and support Activity Coordinators, including weekly team meetings and daily classroom check-ins Provide mentorship and training to staff, encouraging growth in confidence, communication, and skill development Model servant leadership and use sound judgment to promote a collaborative, solution-focused team culture Assist with developing and implementing academic, enrichment, and recreational programming that reflects the COV mission; overseeing and implementing monthly calendars for enrichment and academic support Ensure classrooms are organized, clean, and equipped with needed materials before and after each day Administrative Support Maintain accurate records, data entry, and filing Respond to emails and phone calls professionally and promptly Support to Site Coordinator and Executive Director with site asset management and property oversight Assist the Volunteer Coordinator with volunteer-related logistics, volunteer trainings and events Conduct monthly reports to Site Coordinator and Executive Director Student Engagement Supervise and lead classroom activities during staff breaks and lunches (10-30 minutes per staff member) Manage a group of 10-15 children, ensuring consistent academic support and enrichment activities Lead small and large group activities, games, and transitions Assist with meals/snacks and behavior support using trauma-informed, relational strategies Team & Community Engagement Build strong relationships with students, families, staff, school personnel, church partners, volunteers, community members, and local businesses Attend all staff meetings, events, and fundraisers as a representative of COV Uphold and model COV's values and expectations daily Recruit and outreach for volunteers; conduct volunteer outreach presentations Required Qualifications Minimum 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED Experience working with children and families from low-income and culturally diverse backgrounds Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to plan and lead group activities and work effectively in team settings Ability to handle conflict and problem-solving in a professional, compassionate manner Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher) Ability to maintain confidentiality and practice discretion Must meet COV employment requirements and follow all policies CPR, First Aid, and Food Handler's Permit (must be obtained prior to program start) Preferred Qualifications Bilingual in English and Spanish Comfortable driving a 10-passenger van or shuttle bus (transporting children)
