Position Summary The Construction Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of outside plant (OSP) construction projects for Core Fiber Partners, including fiber optic and fixed wireless deployments. This leadership role ensures that projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to company quality standards. The Construction Coordinator coordinates field crews, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders and serves as a key liaison between field operations and project management. For BEAD-funded projects, this position supports compliance with federal and state broadband grant requirements throughout fiber network and fixed wireless implementation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following: Supervise and coordinate daily activities of OSP construction crews, including scheduling, work assignments, and performance monitoring. Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety protocols, company policies, and regulatory requirements. Oversee installation of aerial and underground fiber optic infrastructure, including trenching, conduit placement, pole setting, cable pulling, splicing, and restoration. Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and engineering plans; ensure accurate as-built documentation. Order and monitor construction inventory, ensuring equipment and materials are available when needed. Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation; track progress and report on project status. Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, clients, and vendors to ensure smooth project execution. Coordinate with permitting authorities, utility companies, and other stakeholders to resolve right-of-way, locates, and access issues. Submit and manage permits as needed. Conduct site inspections to ensure quality control, safety compliance, and adherence to project specifications. Mentor, train, and evaluate field staff; foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement. Maintain accurate records, including daily logs, safety reports, material usage, and equipment maintenance. Respond to emergencies, outages, or priority work as needed, including after-hours or weekend work. BEAD & Grant Compliance Responsibilities Support fiber and fixed wireless construction activities in compliance with BEAD (Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment) program requirements and applicable NTIA and state broadband office conditions. Assist with grant-required documentation, including construction progress records, as-builts, photo documentation, and materials tracking. Support compliance with prevailing wage, certified payroll, and labor documentation requirements, as applicable to BEAD-funded projects. Coordinate with project management, compliance, and finance teams during audits, monitoring reviews, and reporting milestones. Monitor field execution to ensure construction scope aligns with grant-approved designs, locations, and eligible cost criteria. Identify and escalate potential compliance risks, schedule impacts, or scope deviations that could affect grant eligibility or funding reimbursement. Support readiness for site inspections by state or federal representatives. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) 5+ years of experience in OSP construction, telecommunications, or related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role. Strong knowledge of fiber optic and fixed wireless construction methods, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and engineering documents. Proven leadership, team management, and conflict resolution skills. Excellent organizational, time management, and communication abilities. Proficiency with project management tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and field documentation systems. Valid driver's license and clean driving record. High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field preferred).
Preferred Qualifications:
OSHA, FOA, or other relevant safety/construction certifications. Experience with heavy equipment operation and maintenance. Experience coordinating fixed wireless deployments, including tower or rooftop work, antenna installation, and customer premises equipment activation. CDL (Commercial Driver's License) is a plus. Experience managing subcontractors and vendor relationships. Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Ability to walk, stand, climb, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs as needed. Frequent site visits, including rugged or uneven terrain, trenches, aerial poles, or underground vaults.
Exposure to construction hazards:
traffic, live wires, heavy equipment, excavations, etc. Use of appropriate PPE and adherence to all safety protocols is mandatory. Occasional after-hours, weekend, or on-call work may be required to address emergencies or priority projects. May require up to 25% out-of-town regional travel, including occasional overnight travel. Business mileage incurred through authorized use of a personal vehicle will be reimbursed in accordance with company policy. Possible use of company vehicles; CDL may be required for some vehicle operation.
