Full Job Description Overview:
Schoolhouse Manufacturing is a fully integrated company specializing in design, manufacturing, repurposing, selling, and leasing of modular structures to clients in the educational, government, commercial, industrial, oil & gas, and other specialty markets. We continue to develop year over year because of our skilled personnel and solid financial foundation. Schoolhouse Manufacturing is currently seeking to fill the QC Building Inspector position.
Description Summary:
The Quality Control Building Inspector is responsible for checking modular classroom units throughout the production process to ensure they meet approved drawings, state requirements, and company quality standards. This role performs hands‑on inspections, documents issues, and works with production staff to correct any deviations. Strong blueprint reading skills and prior experience in QC, building inspection, or modular construction are required.
Responsibilities:
Read and interpret production drawings and state‑approved plans. Verify framing, floors, walls, roofs, and structural components match approved drawings. Inspect rough electrical, rough plumbing, and HVAC installations for proper materials, routing, and code compliance. Check insulation, sheathing, weather barriers, and energy‑related components for compliance with IECC and state requirements. Inspect interior finishes, cabinetry, doors, windows, trim, fixtures, and equipment for correct installation and workmanship. Confirm final electrical, plumbing, and HVAC connections meet code and pass required testing procedures. Complete QC documentation and line travelers for each modular classroom unit. Prepare required documentation for state decals/insignias. Schedule and coordinate third‑party inspections and ensure units are ready at the correct stage. Walk units with third‑party inspectors and document any findings. Communicate deviations from drawings, codes, or standards to Production Managers and Team Leaders. Follow up to verify corrections have been completed before units move forward.
Skills/Qualifications:
Ability to read and understand construction blueprints Prior experience in QC, building inspection, or modular construction Working knowledge of building codes (IBC, IMC, IPC, IECC, NEC) Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical inspections Clear communication skills
Education, Experience, & Licensing Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. 2-3 years of experience in construction, modular building, or quality control preferred. #IND-1
Pay:
$20.00 - $23.00 per hour
