Associates:
TRB + Associates is a rapidly growing municipal services consulting firm providing high-quality building and safety services to jurisdictions throughout California. We are seeking experienced and motivated Senior Building Inspectors and Building Inspectors to join our team. This position offers excellent growth opportunities, a collaborative team environment, and the chance to work on a wide range of residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
Position Overview:
The Senior Building Inspector requires a minimum of five (5) years of experience, and the Building Inspector requires at least two (2) years of experience in building inspection or construction involving residential, commercial, or industrial structures. Experience working for a city or county jurisdiction is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct inspections of industrial, commercial, and residential buildings at various stages of construction and remodeling to ensure compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations. Inspect existing buildings for change of use, occupancy, or compliance with current codes and ordinances. Communicate and coordinate with architects, contractors, builders, and the general public both in the field and office environments; explain and interpret code requirements and restrictions. Issue notices to comply and maintain detailed inspection records and reports. Perform over-the-counter plan reviews for compliance with building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing codes. Coordinate inspection activities with other city departments and divisions as needed. Perform related duties as assigned.
Knowledge of:
California Building Standards Code, including building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, energy, housing, and green building codes. State and federal laws and regulations related to construction. Principles, materials, and methods used in building design and construction. Legal procedures and enforcement methods related to building inspection. Building construction techniques, practices, and safety standards.
Ability to:
Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and construction drawings. Apply and explain construction-related codes, regulations, and policies clearly and effectively. Communicate inspection requirements and decisions to contractors and the public in a professional and courteous manner. Prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive inspection reports and field notes. Perform mathematical computations related to construction. Evaluate and recommend improvements to inspection and permitting procedures. Climb ladders, access roofs, crawl under floors, and perform physical inspections as necessary.
Qualifications:
Certification:
ICC Building Inspector certification required. Additional ICC certifications such as Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, Combination Inspector, or Plans Examiner are highly desirable. CASp certification is a plus.
Knowledge:
Strong understanding of the California Building Standards Code and related standards is essential.
Licensing:
Must possess a valid California driver's license and pass a background check. Why Join TRB +
