Job Description
Job Summary A local housing organization is hiring a Part-Time Housing Compliance Inspector to support rental housing compliance throughout Weld County and surrounding areas. This field-based role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with experience in property maintenance, construction, building inspections, or housing inspections who enjoys working independently while supporting an important community-focused program. The Housing Compliance Inspector will help ensure rental units meet HUD housing standards, health and safety requirements, and program guidelines. This opportunity offers meaningful part-time work, a steady schedule of up to 24 hours per week, and the chance to work with tenants, property owners, and program staff in a mission-driven environment. Candidates can expect a collaborative team atmosphere, supportive leadership, and work that directly contributes to safe, compliant housing in the community. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections of rental units participating in a housing assistance program.
- Evaluate properties for compliance with HUD housing standards, health and safety requirements, and applicable property guidelines.
- Identify deficiencies related to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofing, safety systems, structural conditions, and general habitability.
- Document inspection findings accurately using computers, tablets, or inspection software.
- Communicate professionally with tenants, property owners, landlords, and internal program staff regarding inspection results and required repairs.
- Complete follow-up inspections to verify that deficiencies have been corrected. Compensation and Benefits
Pay:
$24.00 per hour.Schedule:
Part-time, up to 24 hours per week.Location:
Field-based role serving Weld County and surrounding areas. Required Qualifications and Skills- Inspect rental housing units for compliance with HUD housing standards and program requirements.
- Document property deficiencies, inspection outcomes, and repair verification details.
- Communicate inspection results clearly with property owners, tenants, and program staff.
- Travel locally to complete scheduled field inspections.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience in property maintenance, construction, building inspections, housing inspections, or a related field preferred.
- Working knowledge of basic residential systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofing, and safety systems.
- Ability to use computers, tablets, and inspection software to complete reports and documentation.
- Strong communication, organization, follow-through, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently in a field-based environment with frequent local travel.
- Valid Colorado driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Ability to walk, climb stairs, bend, kneel, and access areas such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces. Preferred Qualifications
- HUD inspection certification.
- Affordable housing, housing assistance program, or public housing inspection experience.
- Bilingual English and Spanish skills.
- Mid to senior-level related experience, generally aligned with 6-10 years in property maintenance, construction, building inspections, housing inspections, or a similar field.
