Seasonal Paving Inspector & Construction Materials Testing Field Technician - Entry Level

We are seeking motivated individuals to join the John Turner Consulting (JTC) team as Entry-Level Paving Inspectors and Construction Materials Testing Field Technicians. This position involves contributing to various paving, transportation, and infrastructure projects while supporting Quality Control and Quality Assurance programs for our clients. Projects are typically located within the candidate's local region; however, additional opportunities are available for candidates willing to travel and work night shifts. In this role, you will serve as an integral member of our client's team—comprised of engineers, construction and/or paving contractors—while independently representing JTC and our clients' interests on construction sites. Projects will range from basic paving initiatives to full-depth reconstruction and other infrastructure installations, including concrete, soils, and rebar inspections. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong coordination skills, working closely with project foremen, quality control managers, state agencies, and owners, while collaborating with a diverse project team. A foundational knowledge of paving, concrete, and road construction is preferred; however, we are committed to providing the training necessary to help you obtain certifications and develop the skills required to succeed in this role.

Basic Responsibilities:

Monitor and inspect construction and paving activities to ensure compliance with specifications. Perform inspections of concrete, soils, and rebar installations. Measure and test in-place pavement densities during placement operations. Complete and submit daily field reports. Coordinate daily activities with owners and contractor representatives, identifying production and placement issues. Conduct material sampling and testing. Collect and verify project data. Use and properly care for company-issued equipment and perform additional related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 1 year of construction inspection/testing experience preferred (entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply).

NETTCP HMA

Paving Inspector certification (or ability to obtain). NETTCP Soils & Aggregate Inspector certification (or ability to obtain). ACI Concrete Field Testing certification (or ability to obtain). Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and electronic). Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and email. Valid driver's license. Pay Range:

$20-$35 per hour (based on experience and current certifications)
