Position summary:
JMT is looking for a Construction Engineering Inspector to assist engineers with the completion of Water/Wastewater and Utility construction projects in Fort Pierce, FL. Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g.
H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT
) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification. Essential functions and responsibilities Conduct regular inspections of water/wastewater, stormwater, utilities and related facilities construction projects to verify compliance with approved plans and codes
  • to include water and sewer utilities Conduct regular inspections of roadway infrastructure including earthwork, asphalt, concrete, drainage, flatwork, etc.
to verify compliance with approved plans and contract documents Provide field engineering, construction management and contract support services (submittal review, contract document interpretation, requests for information, correspondence, change requests and change orders) as needed on site and in office Ensure that construction workmanship and materials adhere to established industry standards and meet project specifications Accurately document all construction inspection activities by creating daily reports and maintaining organized, detailed, and up to date field files Oversee and coordinate material testing activities to ensure materials used meet project specifications Conduct field measurements to establish quantities for pay item documentation as well as other contract administration documentation Participate in close out activities, including preparation of punch lists and final inspection reports Communicate effectively and collaboratively with clients, contractors, sub-contractors, and project teams including other disciplines, such as cost estimators, designers, and other engineers Work on behalf of the Client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction related field issues Operate and have the ability to upload, download and manage files in a Project Management Information System, PMIS, i.e. Procore, eBuilder etc. Provide input and participate in client, contractor and staff progress meetings. Gathers and maintains record documents Makes field notes and computations Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries Nonessential functions and responsibilities Perform other related duties as assigned Required Skills Strong Computer proficiency Strong in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Strong written and verbal communication skills Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening Active driver's license Preferred Skills Ability to act in an Owner's Agent/Responsible in Charge role Required Experience High school degree/equivalent or better 3+ years of related experience on field projects. Strong understanding of municipal specifications, governmental agencies (FDOT) specifications, details, and practices Must be able to read plans and specifications Strong understanding of construction site safety practices Willing to travel within the state of FL Client requested certifications Preferred Experience Experience and understanding of water treatment plants construction and rehabilitation works. Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred Working Conditions Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
