Government, Inc. is seeking to hire an individual who is highly motivated, detail-oriented, and a team player and a licensed Building (Residential) Inspector . The candidate should be well-versed in the following residential inspections: Building/Structural, Plumbing, Electrical, and Mechanical and will perform a variety of routine and complex technical work in connection with the duty to enforce all of the provisions of the Florida Building Code, County Code, City Code, and other related codes. Duties and Responsibilities Inspect commercial, industrial, and residential buildings during various stages of construction and remodeling to ensure compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations. Inspections include foundation, concrete, steel, masonry, wood construction, framing, plastering, plumbing, heating and electrical installations, and a large variety of other complex and routine building system elements. Depending on specific assignments, inspectors may also issue notices for violation upon failed inspections and may be responsible for approving the issuance of building permits. Respond to code-related questions from developers, builders, contractors, and/or property owners. Confer with architects, contractors, builders, and the public in the field and office; explain and interpret building requirements and restrictions Read, research, and objectively explain and interpret building code requirements along with other laws pertaining to regulation of buildings, and tactfully communicate, orally and in writing, with staff and/or clients while maintaining effective relationships Maintain files and reports regarding inspection and/or plan review activities and findings Attend and participate in meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of building inspection Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager. Required Education, Experience, and Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Knowledge of current codes and regulatory standards governing the state's building construction industry in the respective trade/discipline. Knowledge of all functions relevant to the processing and approval of building construction projects in the respective trade/discipline, e.g. plans review, licensing, permitting, inspections. Ability to detect deviations from plans, regulations, and standard construction practices. Be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge of local building code regulations, policies, and procedures Ability to get along with others and work effectively and courteously with the public and fellow workers. 3 to 5 years combined experience in building department field inspections and plans examiner duties is a plus.
