Department:
Planning and Development Services About Our Job Join our high-performing team as a Right-of-Way Permitting Specialist. This position is about 80% in the office and 20% out in the field. Support projects like DAS mini towers for 5G fiber optics, driveway aprons, water main/sewer line extensions, triathlons, and boat parades. There is never a dull moment in this position! Interact with the general public, home owner associations, contractors and developers. We'll support you in obtaining your MOT certificate to help prepare you for growth within your career. This is work reviewing and approving drainage plans, right-of-way and culvert permits; inspecting private, public and County owned property; ensuring compliance with federal, state and local regulations, statutes and County ordinances; and will provide back-up support for Land Development Inspectors in their inspection activities. Works closely with the Land Development staff engineer.
Job Description:
Reviews all Right-of-Way Use permits submitted to Land Development as part of the permit process for compliance with the Unified Development Code. Provides on-site inspections of private, public and County owned property; ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations, statutes and County ordinances. Provides support in review of subdivision and site and development permit plan reviews. Provides back up support for Land Development Inspectors in their inspection activities.
Work Hours:
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
About You Minimum Qualifications:
A High School Diploma or its equivalent AND four (4) years of related experience; two (2) of which, must be in related inspecting experience. Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License. College or university level training in an appropriate field may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in engineering preferred. Have obtained (passed) the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam in Florida OR will take and pass within six (6) months from date of hire.
Job Competencies:
Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment common to drainage structure construction. Ability to accurately read, understand and interpret specifications on subdivision and draining plans. Ability to conduct on-site inspections. Knowledge of hydrology and hydraulics of stormwater runoff, preparing a survey, construction methods, scheduling, and pavement design. Must have positive communication and interpersonal skills. Must have Microsoft Office and internet search skills and must become proficient in County used software such as Maximo, LIMS, GIS and KRONOS.

This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
About Everything Else Pay:
