Role:
We are seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to support construction projects by performing inspections at active construction sites, testing of materials, and documenting equipment, quantities, and construction activities at various stages of construction. This role is open to candidates with active HDOT, MTRB, ACI, etc. certifications and 5+ years of relevant experience. The Construction Inspector ensures all work is performed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, contracts, and standard methods of work. This position requires the ability to work independently in the field while collaborating effectively with project teams, contractors, and internal staff. Inspectors are expected to uphold QRSE's professional standards, with a strong emphasis on quality, safety, timeliness, and clear communication. This role offers opportunities for professional growth, with advancement based on demonstrated competency, certifications, and leadership capabilities. What You'll Do Core Responsibilities Perform construction inspections, material sampling and testing, primarily during the construction phase of projects Verify that materials, quantities, and workmanship comply with approved plans, specifications, and contract requirements Document daily construction activities, inspections, and test results accurately and thoroughly Prepare detailed daily inspection reports, including: Labor force and equipment used Weather conditions Traffic control setup/breakdown and timing Activities completed, documented by bid item number Non-conformances and corrective actions Photos, safety observations, and contractor quality control Field testing, special inspections, disputes, and force account work (if applicable) Coordinate and oversee Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) material testing Support engineering staff with coordination on RFIs, submittals, change orders, and as-built documentation Identify potential issues and recommend improvements to construction processes Maintain compliance with safety standards and stop work when major safety or contractual violations occur Perform additional duties as assignedRequired:
High school diploma or equivalent A minimum 5 years of heavy civil construction inspection experience with active inspection certifications (e.g., HDOTMTRB, ACI
) Must possess a valid driver's license and be legally able to drive, with daily worksite reporting and exposure to weather, noise, and hazards Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM; overnight work as needed Physical demands: standing, walking, climbing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crawling, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs Comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions with appropriate PPE Eager to learn and integrate new technology, AI tools, and innovative solutions Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree (Engineering highly preferred) Prior experience on transportation or public infrastructure projects Why QRSE?
