Job Description

at Volkert, Inc. in Carbondale, Illinois, United States Job Description Are we the road to your future? Volkert is searching for an experienced CEI Inspector with relevant industry certifications to join Midwest Construction Services Group in Carbondale, IL or Collinsville, IL. To be considered for this position, applicants musthave, at minimum, a High School Diploma or equivalent. The salary range for this position is $24 - $35 per hour. As a CEI Inspector, work is primarily routine and standardized inspection work which may include manual or electronic calculations and computations. You will perform independent inspection and documentation of construction processes and materials to assure compliance with the construction contract. Guidance to accomplish assignments is provided by higher level Inspectors, Project Engineers or Resident Engineers. What you'll be doing: Making and checking engineering computations Documenting/Inspecting construction work Materials testing in the field Inspection of truck load tickets for aggregate, asphalt, or concrete Writing daily inspection reports, performing verification testing, and documenting test results and observations Performing SWPPP inspections Assisting in all types of record keeping and field measurements, as needed Work is performed under the general supervision of the Resident Engineer and/or Construction Engineering and Inspection Manager What you need to have: High School Diploma or equivalent Four (4) years of experience in construction inspection, any prior experience in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection is preferred Some IDOT experience is a plus IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities certification is highly desired Must have a valid driver's license and immediate ability to work in the United States Must be able to work nights and weekends as required Must apply safety philosophy and program to all operations Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines. Valid driver's license. A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR). If applicable to the position, a post offer fit for duty evaluation to ensure the individual can safely perform the essential functions of the role. Why Volkert?
