Code Enforcement Officer/Building Inspector (at least 1+ year experience) 430 Lincoln Avenue, Wamego, KS 66547 $22

  • Part-time, Full-time The Code Enforcement/Building Inspector enforces City codes and regulations relating to zoning, nuisance abatement and property maintenance and is responsible for building permits and inspections.
This position also serves as a safety officer for city staff. Conducts systematic inspection of property within the jurisdiction of City codes, to include, but not limited to zoning, and conducts inspections in response to complaints from the public Follows the enforcement procedures prescribed by City code regarding abatement of violations noted, in an equitable and organized manner Maintains a thorough knowledge of codes and regulations and keeps current with code changes Actively participates and abides by City sponsored education, training and safety programs Performs building code inspections and enforcement of adopted construction codes, including the international building, plumbing, mechanical, fire, electrical and residential (IBC, IPC, IMC, IFC, IRC and NEC) Issues building permits and zoning reviews Enforces safety policies for city employees Coordinates Safety Training throughout city departments. Assists the Police Department in handling most dog issues via written correspondence or over the phone with citizens Assists other City departments as needed and maintains good working relationships while obtaining assistance in abating some violations Informs City Management regarding conditions noted requiring City action Stays current on skills, keeping abreast of new technology, adapting to City and industry changes Attends and participates in City staff meetings, trainings, and seminar.
