Job Description

Job Title:
Coating Quality Control (QC) Inspector Washington, LA Job Summary The Coating QC Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all coating and surface preparation activities meet specified quality standards, project requirements, and industry regulations. This role involves inspection, testing, and documentation of coating applications to ensure compliance with client specifications and applicable codes. Key Responsibilities Inspect surface preparation activities (e.g., cleaning, blasting) prior to coating application Monitor coating application processes to ensure proper techniques and environmental conditions are maintained Measure and record coating thickness using appropriate instruments (e.g., DFT gauges) Perform visual inspections for defects such as runs, sags, pinholes, or incomplete coverage Conduct adhesion, holiday, and other coating tests as required Verify compliance with project specifications, standards, and procedures Maintain accurate inspection reports and quality documentation Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and company policies Identify non-conformances and recommend corrective actions Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and clients regarding quality issues Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred) Certification such as NACE (AMPP) Coating Inspector Level 1 or higher is preferred Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in coating inspection or a related field Knowledge of coating systems, surface preparation methods, and inspection tools Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., SSPC, ASTM, ISO) Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and drawings Skills & Competencies Strong attention to detail Good written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in using inspection and testing equipment Problem-solving and analytical skills Ability to work independently and in team environments Working Conditions Field-based role (industrial sites, construction sites, or plants) Exposure to varying weather conditions and industrial environments May require travel and extended hours depending on project needs Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods Capability to work in confined spaces or at heights (if required) Ability to lift and carry inspection equipment
