The Prince George's County Department of Permitting , Inspections, & Enforcement is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill an Engineer 4 G grade G31 position in the Chief Engineer Office 1 Division. About the Position This position provides principal-level professional engineering plan review and administrative support work with the Department of Permitting, Inspections, and Enforcement. The incumbent provides geotechnical and civil engineering support relative to permit review and quality assurance of construction materials used by permittees involved in land development projects in Prince George's County; the development of construction specifications; materials sampling and testing procedures; and research on quality of construction materials for compliance with prevailing government and industry standards. Work requires the application of complex engineering principles and practices and is performed under the general supervision of the Division Chief. About The Agency The Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement (DPIE) is responsible for coordinating and enforcing standards that control what goes on before, during, and after construction. Staff from nine agencies, who work cooperatively on permit processing, business licensing, plan review, inspection and enforcement comprise Department of Permitting, Inspections, and Enforcement. The Mission of the Department of Permitting, Inspections, and Enforcement is to promote economic development in Prince George's County and protect the safety of County residents, businesses, and visitors through efficient permitting, inspection and licensing services to ensure compliance with established building, zoning and property standards codes. Served as Lead and Program Manager for DPIE Geotech Engineering. Provides quality assurance oversight on all district projects for geotechnical-related matters, including, but not limited to, soil treatment, quality of fill used, slope stability issues, etc. Coordinates new design criteria with DPIE Plan Review staff to ensure compliance with regulations established by AASHTO, ASTM, and the Maryland State Highway Administration. Acts as an effective liaison with the Maryland State Highway Administration to arrange for occasional assistance with construction materials where applicable. Ensures that geotechnical-related material is neat, accurate, and meets all necessary criteria before permit. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the engineering field determined by the requirements of the position (e.g., civil, environmental, transportation, architectural, mechanical, fire protection, agricultural, agronomy, chemical, industrial, construction) Four (4) years of progressive professional experience in the appropriate engineering field At least two (2) years of lead/supervisory experience. A Professional Engineer (PE) License is required. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
