Job Description

Transportation Resident Project Representative (RPR)/On-Site Representative (Construction Inspection) - Maine (Seasonal through the start of Winter) McClure is seeking a skilled Resident Project Representative (RPR)/On-Site Representative to support Maine DOT construction projects throughout the state. We are specifically looking for qualified Level II through IV inspectors, with a strong preference for candidates holding ACI and/or NETTCP certifications. This is an excellent opportunity for those who enjoy working in the field, collaborating with project teams, and contributing to high-quality infrastructure projects. Why this role is a great opportunity: Home-based position with travel throughout selection region/regions of Maine Mileage reimbursement for project travel Company-paid lodging for overnight assignments Overtime eligible position Per diem provided when applicable Opportunity to work on a variety of transportation, site development, and aviation projects What you'll do - a highlight: Serve as the primary on-site liaison between the client, contractor, and McClure project team Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and project requirements Work closely with project managers and project teams across multiple disciplines Support construction documentation, communication, and coordination on active project sites Maintain safe, professional, and effective interactions with contractors and project stakeholders Apply a working knowledge of civil engineering and transportation construction practices Travel expectations: This role supports projects across Maine DOT regions, including Northern, Western, Eastern, Midcoast, and Southern Maine. Candidates must be comfortable with extensive travel throughout the state/region depending on project needs and Maine DOT region selected. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to indicate regional travel preferences during the hiring process. This position is field-focused and ideal for professionals who enjoy working outdoors, solving problems on site, and contributing directly to successful project delivery.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor with all team members Strong understanding of construction operations, techniques, and industry standards Ability to manage a fair workload by staying focused and managing priorities Strong knowledge of construction compliance, quality procedures, and other Engineering/Technical skills Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from various groups of people Effective oral and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
General Responsibilities:
Perform regular field visits to active construction sites, complying with all relevant field safety procedures Read and understand specific project plans and specifications Observe projects for consistent compliance with project plans and specifications, contract documents, codes, and standards of practice Use applicable industry software to prepare daily observation reports and assist in producing project documentation such as change order, pay estimates, communication documents and project updates Communicate with the project team regarding project requirements and inspection results Serve as a resource and liaison to the project manager, the client, and all third parties on multiple projects. Monitor project expenditures and budget Measure quantities for progress payments Perform quality assurance testing of materials prior to incorporation into the project Review plans to identify potential conflicts, scheduling, and quality control Monitor contractor's adherence to project schedule and proactively identify and report schedule challenges Respond to project inquiries and attend design and progress meetings as required
Requirements:
Minimum 1-2 years of related experience High school diploma/equivalent, additional education/training preferred General computer knowledge (Excel, Word, PDF) Ideal certifications or ability to attain: NETTCP Soil and Aggregate Inspector; or
ACI/NETTCP
Field testing concrete certification; or NETTCP Hot Mix Asphalt Plant Technician.
