POSITION SUMMARY
This position is for a full-time Construction Technician in our Construction Services Group in our Saginaw, St. Johns, East Lansing, Dundee, and Bingham Farms office locations.

A TYPICAL DAY ON THE JOB
Acting as client, contractor, and project manager liaison for the construction of municipal and MDOT infrastructure projects. Observation of construction work in progress to ensure conformance with specifications, examining workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards, and maintaining detailed records of work performed by contractors. Communicates directly with clients and owners, hold and attend meetings, review shop drawings, perform quantity take offs, generate preliminary estimates of cost. Performs office technician duties such as reviewing certified payrolls, reviewing IDR's for compliance to standards, generating pay estimates and contract modifications. Familiarity with MDOT specifications, standard plans, and work practice is preferred. Conducts material testing as related to: HMA sampling, concrete sampling and testing, aggregate sampling, mechanical testing of aggregates, compaction testing for granular, aggregate, clay, and HMA materials.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma Construction inspection experience, preferably in the areas of municipal infrastructure, MDOT Road, and Bridge Construction Valid driver's license
