Job Description

One of our largest Gas Distribution & Energy clients is looking for a Construction Inspector II in Grand Rapids MI.
Duration:
12 to 24 Months Contract (Possibility of Extension) Pay rate : $30 to $35 per hour on w2, without benefits/holidays/vacation Number of positions: 1
Shift Timing:
8am to 5pm
Position Summary:
Construction Inspector II to oversee environmental compliance and construction at coal combustion residuals (CCR) landfills in the state of MI. Landfills are located near Muskegon, Holland, Bay City, and Monroe, MI. Two landfills are still open and operating, the others are closed but have a 30-year post closure monitoring period. This position will oversee and ensure our contracted entities are completing compliance obligations related to maintenance, monitoring, inspections, surveying, and other engineering support. Additionally, this position will be expected to develop and maintain records and support report development. At active landfills, oversight of closure work and new cell construction may be required, and reporting progress to the Landfill Program Manager. The candidate will also assist in quality assurance by auditing the activities of our 3rd party Engineer as they complete inspections, surveying, sampling, testing, etc. and reporting in a format acceptable to the agency having jurisdiction.
Skills:
A fundamental and working knowledge of the State of Michigan Part 115 landfill regulations as well as general landfill operation, construction, and maintenance is required; and a general understanding of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) CCR rules (2015 & 2024) is preferred. Candidate must be able to read and interpret civil and environmental drawings and related construction documents. Strong oral and written communication skills are required. Candidate must be able to prioritize and deal with multiple activities daily.
Education:
High School diploma required, an Associate's degree in a Technical/Construction field is a plus. Prefer 3 - 5 years' relevant experience in a similar role.
Pay:
$30.00 - $35.00 per hour
