POSITION TYPE
Hourly, Non-ExemptJOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for inspecting the work of contractors for compliance with approved plans, specifications, and standards.MAJOR DUTIES
Inspects the quality of construction of public improvements for compliance to approved plans, specifications, and standards. Reads and interprets project plans. Maintains records of progress and provides summaries as needed for contract administration and historical use. Screens and handles construction problems in the field at project sites. Investigates special or problem situations. Performs material testing. Assists with final inspections and project closeouts. Assist the Chief Construction Inspector with project review and communications of project status. Performs other related duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
Knowledge of construction methods and practices. Knowledge of material testing processes. Knowledge of basic survey methods and construction layout. Skill in reading and interpreting plans. Skill in mathematics. Skill in record keeping. Skill in oral and written communication.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Be able to read and interpret written material and directions. Be able to print or write manually on appropriate equipment. Perform basic mathematic functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Have two years post secondary education in the field of Engineering Technology or a closely related field or two years experience in a related field. Must have a valid driver's license. Salary per hour $21.54, plus a generous benefit package. Bi-weekly pay periods. Thirteen paid holidays per year. 96 hours of vacation- accrued throughout the year. 96 hours of sick leave
