Job Description

Position Summary:
The City of St. Peters is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Code Enforcement Officer to join our team. In this role, you will conduct inspections of existing structures and sites to ensure compliance with City codes. You will address concerns related to property maintenance, public nuisances, and zoning issues, playing a crucial role in maintaining the safety and quality of our community. Strong communication and report writing skills are a must, along with a drive to provide superior customer service!
IMPORTANT NOTICE
The recommended candidate will not begin employment prior to October 1, 2026.
Normal Shift:
8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct field inspections and investigations to verify compliance with City ordinances and property maintenance standards. Perform inspections on non-owner occupied properties. Investigate concerns related to ordinance and code violations, issue notices to property owners, and ensure compliance through follow-up inspections. Perform inspections for certain permits. Recommend prosecution of code violators and provide court testimony on behalf of the City.
Minimum Requirements:
Must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker. High School graduate or GED certificate and one (1) year of applicable experience. Motor Vehicle Operator's license valid in the state of Missouri. International Code Council Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector Certification (64), or obtain within six (6) months of employment. Knowledge and level of competency related to Microsoft Office programs, database entry, and mobile devices. Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move more than 75 lbs.
