Commercial Plan Reviewer (Multi-Trade) Town of Garner - 4.7 Garner, NC Job Details Part-time $39.92 - $43.18 an hour 15 hours ago Qualifications Construction regulatory compliance High school diploma or GED Driver's License Construction plans Construction drawing review Full Job Description The Town of Garner Inspections Department is seeking a Commercial Plan Reviewer to perform difficult technical work in the inspection of building plans and construction for compliance with assigned building codes; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision. This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and anegligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by meansof the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required fordepth perception, color perception, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving smalldefects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracyand thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outsideenvironmental conditions, hazards, and atmospheric conditions. Examples of Duties Performs plan review of commercial, industrial, and public facilities for compliance with building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and/or fire codes; Compiles lists of violations; prepares notices of violations; Advises contractor in interpreting and applying code provisions; Receives complaints in regard to defective construction and handles enforcement problems; Where construction is not being made in compliance with regulations as to methods and/or materials, issues warnings and stop-work orders if necessary; Issues violation notices as required; Answers questions from private citizens, contractors, and builders; does plan checking to determine compliance with codes; testifies in court on code violation cases; makes reports and keeps records regarding inspections; Assists with minimum housing inspections. Attends training to increase skills and maintain certifications; Performs related tasks as required. Minimum Qualifications Applicants must have at least 5 years of building codes inspection experience and prior plan review experience in North Carolina. Applicant must have at least one Level 3 Standard Certificate in any trade and inspections experience in the other four trades. A high school diploma or equivalent. A valid North Carolina driver's license and good driving record are also required. Preference will be given to applicants with prior commercial inspections and plan review experience.
