Transportation Construction Inspector - LEVEL 3 Popli Design Group - 4.4 Iselin, NJ Job Details Full-time $48 - $65 an hour 16 hours ago Qualifications Working on construction projects in a civil infrastructure role Productivity software Full Job Description Popli Design Group (PDG), a multi-disciplined Architecture/Engineering firm is seeking candidates interested in leading a team of inspectors to perform Construction Inspection activities on various transportation type projects. Our firm works on construction projects in various regions across the state providing detailed inspection reviews, QC/QA overviews of on-site testing of materials and other support activities as necessary. Duties include but not limited to are obtaining field measurements and data collection necessary to submit daily work reports and preparing quantity calculations used to generate progress payment estimates. Senior inspectors act as a liaison between the contractor foremen and the Chief Inspector or Resident Engineer. Responsibilities Lead a team of junior inspectors working to Inspect progress of basic construction operations (Earthwork, Pavement, Structural components, Bridges, Culverts, Scaffolding…) Verify conformance of material with Standard Specifications by confirming results of field tests (Concrete, Compaction…) Interpret documented characteristics of objects and materials used in construction and recommend course(s) of action to Chief inspector for approval Read, understand and interpret contract plans, project documents and schedules to assign inspection personnel. Recognize unsafe construction procedures and site conditions Inspect erosion control and other devices/methods used to protect environmental features and utilities Document work performed, quantities, and testing and acceptance of work materials Required Skills Good organizational skills Ability to supervise inspection of multiple activities Written and verbal communication skills Advanced attention to detail Microsoft Suite and a willingness and ability to learn new software Ability to multitask Experience, Education, and Certifications Prior experience with a transportation construction type work (highway, bridge and culverts) Prior experience on projects with NJDOT preferred Associate's degree (in Civil Engineering/Technology) - With verified field experience and certifications (NICET) Bachelor's degree (in Civil Engineering/Technology) is a plus Work Environment and Physical Demands Construction Project Site(s) and Field offices. Daily travel to job site(s) is required Ability to lift and move average weights (15 lb.)
