Job Description

Position Summary The Field Engineer plays a critical role in the successful execution of industrial construction projects by supporting field operations, ensuring alignment between engineering plans and field installation, and maintaining rigorous quality, safety, and documentation standards. This role operates in a fast-paced, high-accountability jobsite environment where coordination between engineering, project management, and field crews is essential. The Field Engineer is responsible for translating design documents into executable work plans, resolving field conditions, and maintaining accurate project records. Successful candidates demonstrate strong technical aptitude, proactive communication, attention to detail, and the ability to perform under schedule pressure on complex industrial job sites. Key ResponsibilitiesField Coordination & Execution Support daily construction activities by coordinating between project management, superintendents, subcontractors, and design teams. Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents to ensure work is installed correctly. Verify layout, elevations, and dimensions for field installations. Assist with field problem-solving and technical issue resolution related to design discrepancies or unforeseen conditions. Communicate field conditions requiring engineering clarification or design modifications. Project Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate daily field reports, installation records, and progress documentation . Track quantities installed and assist with production reporting. Support preparation of RFIs (Requests for Information), submittals, and change documentation . Assist with project scheduling updates and look-ahead planning. Quality Assurance / Quality Control Perform field inspections to verify compliance with project specifications and industry standards. Support implementation of QA/QC programs and inspection test plans (ITPs) . Document non-conforming work and assist with corrective action plans. Safety Leadership Promote and support a strong safety culture aligned with OSHA and company safety standards . Participate in jobsite safety meetings, hazard analysis, and safety inspections. Ensure work activities are executed in accordance with safety plans and procedures. Subcontractor & Vendor Coordination Interface with subcontractors to confirm scope alignment and installation sequencing. Assist with material tracking, deliveries, and equipment coordination. Support resolution of field conflicts impacting schedule or productivity. QualificationsEducation Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Construction, Industrial, or related discipline) or equivalent construction/technical experience. Experience 0-4 years of experience in industrial construction, heavy civil, energy, or large-scale infrastructure projects . Internship or field experience on active construction sites strongly preferred. Technical Skills Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, structural plans, and construction specifications . Familiarity with construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera, etc.) preferred. Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and project documentation tools. Core Competencies Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking High attention to detail Effective communication across field and office teams Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced jobsite environment Strong organizational and documentation skills Work Environment Primarily field-based on active industrial construction sites . Requires frequent walking, climbing, and extended time outdoors. May require extended work hours, weekends, and travel depending on project demands . PPE and adherence to all safety protocols are mandatory.
