Field Engineer Cold Spring Construction Co Akron, NY Job Details $65,000 - $80,000 a year 1 day ago Qualifications Outdoor work Full Job Description Job Overview The Field Engineer is an entry-level construction professional who works directly with the Project Superintendent to gain hands-on experience in heavy highway construction. This position provides exposure to field operations, project coordination, quality control, safety, scheduling, and project administration while preparing the employee for future leadership opportunities within the company. Responsibilities Assist the Project Superintendent with daily field operations on heavy highway and civil construction projects. Observe, learn, and apply construction methods, safety procedures, and project management practices under the guidance of experienced field leadership. Support the coordination of subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and company crews to maintain project schedules. Monitor daily work activities and document production quantities, labor hours, equipment utilization, and material deliveries. Assist with project layout, grade checking, and verification of construction work to ensure compliance with plans and specifications. Review project drawings, specifications, and contract documents to gain an understanding of project requirements. Participate in daily planning meetings, toolbox talks, and coordination meetings. Maintain accurate daily reports, field records, photographs, and project documentation. Assist with quality control inspections and verify that work is performed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and company standards. Support the preparation and tracking of Requests for Information (RFIs), change orders, and project correspondence. Coordinate material deliveries and verify quantities received on-site. Promote and enforce company safety policies and assist with maintaining a safe work environment. Utilize GPS, surveying, and construction technology systems as directed. Develop an understanding of NYSDOT requirements, prevailing wage regulations, environmental compliance, and other applicable project requirements. Physical Requirements Ability to work in a physically demanding environment that may require prolonged periods of standing, walking, and bending on heavy highway construction sites. Capable of lifting and carrying heavy objects or materials specific to heavy highway construction tasks. Proficient in operating heavy highway construction equipment and machinery, including but not limited to graders, pavers, rollers, and excavators. Comfortable working in various weather conditions on heavy highway construction sites, including exposure to heat, cold, rain, or dust. Ability to work around heavy traffic and follow traffic control measures specific to heavy highway construction. Qualifications Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Proficiency in construction management software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Primavera, MS Project). Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Effective interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment. Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and stakeholders
