In this vital role, you will utilize your expertise in land surveying, utility locating, and field service to identify, mark, and protect underground utilities across construction sites and energy sector projects. Your efforts will help prevent damage, ensure compliance with safety protocols, and support efficient project execution. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors in dynamic environments while making a tangible impact on community safety and infrastructure reliability. Responsibilities Conduct utility locating using ground-penetrating radar, utility locating devices, and vacuum excavation techniques to accurately identify underground utilities. Interpret construction plans, site plans, schematics, and other technical documents to determine the location of underground utilities and plan safe excavation routes. Operate company vehicles and field equipment safely while adhering to all safety protocols and industry standards. Collaborate with construction teams, project managers, and clients to communicate utility locations clearly and effectively before excavation or construction activities commence. Mark underground utilities with appropriate safety color codes using utility marking techniques in accordance with industry regulations. Perform site inspections, including backhoe operation and outdoor work tasks, to verify utility locations and monitor project progress. Utilize ground-penetrating radar technology and other advanced tools to detect underground utilities accurately during site assessments. Qualifications Proven experience as a service technician or field technician within the energy & utilities sector. Strong background in land surveying, utility locating, and reading construction plans or schematics. Hands-on experience working with utility locating devices, ground-penetrating radar equipment, and vacuum excavation tools for utility detection. Knowledge of underground utilities, construction site safety protocols, and industry standards for utility marking. Ability to operate company vehicles safely along with equipment such as backhoes and other construction machinery. Outdoor work experience in diverse weather conditions with a focus on safety and precision. Excellent communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration. Valid driver's license with clean driving record; experience operating a company vehicle is preferred. Familiarity with schematics, site plan interpretation, and reading technical drawings related to underground infrastructure is highly desirable.
