Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic Community Development Department as a Plan Reviewer and play a vital role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and quality of public infrastructure projects. The Community Development Department Plan Reviewer shall be responsible for the complete review of all building plans and applications submitted to the Township for compliance with all applicable codes and ordinances. The applicant will work a forty (40) hour week. Overtime may occur on assignment from the supervisor. The 40-hour week will be from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The employee shall receive one hour for lunch, not paid. Duties Reviews applications for building, plumbing, sewer, mechanical, and zoning permits. Provides written notification to the applicant of items needed for completion of review. Prepares all permit applications, with justification as necessary, for approval/disapproval by the Director of the Community Development. Completes data entry of all permit information into the permit database. Provides assistance and information to applicants on the appropriate procedure and requested information when submitting applications governed by the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code, the Hampden Township Zoning Ordinance, the Hampden Township Land Development Ordinance and other ordinances of the Township of Hampden. Attends Township meetings as required. Experience Undergraduate Degree in Architecture/Engineering or related field and at least three (3) years building experience as (or an assistant to) a licensed Professional Engineer or Architect, Building Community Development Plan Reviewer, Building Inspector or Contractor/Superintendent of Building Construction. (Additional related experience may be substituted for degree.) Commercial and Residential International Code Certified Plans Reviewer and Inspector or capable of obtaining certification within one year of appointment. Experience in and a history of good engineering practices with respect to the review of plans, design and construction of building, plumbing and public sewer systems. Experience with personal computers and related software, i.e., Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office, Springbrook, and C.S. Datum. Working knowledge of the International Code Series and the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code. Knowledge of basic principles of plan reading, mapping and surveying. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both verbal and written form. Current Pennsylvania Driver's License.
