Our technicians gain on-the-job training in one-call utility designating, along with the knowledge and experience in Subsurface Utility Engineering. Since 1993, T2 Utility Engineers has provided professional Subsurface Utility Engineering and surveying services in support of infrastructure projects of all sizes and types. Using advanced technologies, our team of field technicians, engineers, and surveyors, provide quality data and professional insight to help our clients visualize, plan, and design their projects. Our mission is to provide project stakeholders with quality information, professional insight and deliverables that streamline construction, improve project safety and set the standard for the engineering industry. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately identifying, marking, and documenting underground utilities in response to 811 locate requests, as well as learning the operations for a Subsurface Utility Engineering technician. Damage Prevention Technicians' Hofresponsibilities include, but are not limited to: Skilled in the operation of pipe and cable locators Perform daily routine maintenance of equipment Perform daily basic vehicle maintenance Respond promptly to 811 locate tickets and accurately mark underground utility lines using paint or flags Read and interpret utility maps, construction drawings, and job site plans. Document work accurately through digital reporting systems. Communicate effectively with excavators, contractors, homeowners, and utility personnel. Adhere to all safety standards and regulations to prevent utility strikes and ensure public safety. Perform pre- and post-locate inspections and verify locate accuracy. Maintain assigned vehicle, tools, and equipment in good working condition. Work independently in various weather and site conditions, including construction zones, urban, and rural settings. Participate in a rotating on-call schedule, including weekends, holidays, and weekday shifts, to handle emergency locates as needed.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED Ability to read and interpret utility company prints and design plans Valid driver's license with good driving record Ability to pass a pre-employment physical (U.S. only) Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical movements necessary to operate heavy tools and equipment Ability to work outdoors in all climates Must have a good oral and written communication skills and attention to detail OSHA Safety certifications are a plus Commitment to safety and following safety protocols
Preferred Qualifications:
1+ years of experience in utility locating Experience using pipe and cable locators and/or GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) Knowledge of One Call / 811 processes and utility marking Familiarity with GIS mapping systems and digital ticketing platforms OSHA 10 or 30 certification, or other relevant safety training Experience working under state damage prevention laws and local utility guidelines
Schedule:
Standard work hours: [Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-3:30 PM] Must be available for on-call duty on a rotating basis, including weekends, holidays, and one weekday per week Additional hours may be required in response to emergencies, weather events, or high ticket volume We Offer a Complete Benefits Package!
