Company paid Health, Dental, Vision, Life & Disability insurance Retirement savings plans with a company match Hybrid work schedules 9 Holidays & Paid time off Construction Engineering Inspector- Roanoke, VA Mattern & Craig , an employee-owned Civil Engineering and Land Surveying firm, is looking for multiple motivated individuals for positions in our Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) division. The focus of the position is inspections and documentation of construction projects with an emphasis on VDOT and/or TDOT roadway and related projects. These positions include Senior Resident Project Representative(s), Resident Project Representative(s) and Assistant Resident Project Representative(s) in the Roanoke, VA and SW Virginia markets.

Responsibilities Include:

Conduct construction inspections on roadway, bridges, and utility projects Operate in accordance with DOT standard procedures and policies Provide inspection services for conformance to plans and specifications Observe, measure and record all construction quantities for payment Understanding of mathematical calculations associated with quantity measurement Record field measurements in project records for review by the client or auditors Track & record standard field data on inspection forms to be submitted to the client Review and document project traffic control on required forms and distribute as required Inspect daily erosion control items for conformance to the plans as well as effectiveness in the field Prepare to justify any pay quantities in the case of questions by the Contractor or Client Provide highly professional services & maintain a cooperative relationship between all parties involved Prepare and maintain an accurate daily diary, project mileage, and expenses

Experience:

Willingness to work Overtime or for limited night time construction and overnight travel HS Diploma or equivalent Previous construction or inspection experience, varying for the various positions Valid Driver's License with a good driving record Perform duties without supervision Read resource materials to determine answers to simple inspection requirements Read and interpret construction plans and specifications Obtain any required certifications and pass qualifications tests for the position in specified time frames Ability to sit, stand, climb, bend, twist or stoop frequently and for prolonged periods Operate under various outdoor conditions Ability to reach horizontally as well as vertically for required tasks Ability to use construction or inspection safety equipment including fall protection Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and shake up to 20 pounds Computer Skills including MS Excel, MS Word, and basic Data Entry Software Mattern & Craig is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
