Job Description

THE POSITION
Engineering District 9-0 is seeking a dedicated professional to join our team as a full-time Transportation Technician. In this role, you will leverage your outstanding analytical and observational skills to monitor contractors' construction activities and assess material suppliers, ensuring adherence to Department specifications. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The Transportation Technician is an entry-level position that focuses on inspecting construction projects and related activities. In this role, you will provide inspection services to ensure that all work meets contract specifications, aiming to minimize costs while maintaining high-quality standards. Your responsibilities will include reviewing documentation for completed work and materials to confirm their accuracy and compliance with departmental policies. You will also help manage and organize the District's field construction project records and support various areas such as the PennDOT Project Collaboration Center and Labor Compliance. Additionally, you will assist in conducting inspections at different stages of highway construction, ensuring that grades and elevations are correct and that work zone traffic control signs and devices are properly placed and maintained according to established guidelines. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework:
You will not have the option to telework in this position.
Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685 (before taxes). REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or One year of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
