Certified Welding Inspector Black River USA Houston, TX Job Details Temporary | Part-time | Temp-to-hire | Full-time | Contract $45 - $60 an hour 8 hours ago Benefits Flexible schedule Referral program Qualifications Outdoor work Inspection reporting and documentation Driver's License Attention to detail Organizational skills Certified Welding Inspector Construction documentation Full Job Description Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to support pipeline construction projects in Upstate New York . This position is ideal for someone with prior pipeline or utility construction experience, though candidates with strong welding inspection backgrounds who are willing to learn pipeline-specific standards and procedures are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate is highly meticulous, organized, and comfortable handling inspection documentation, weld traceability, compliance paperwork, and quality records. Accuracy is extremely critical in this role. Compensation & Benefits $50-$60/hour depending on experience $200/day per diem Mileage 60+ hours/week $0.725 for mob/demob Responsibilities Perform visual weld inspections in accordance with applicable project specifications, codes, and client requirements Review and verify welding procedures, welder qualifications, and inspection records Maintain accurate weld logs, inspection reports, repair documentation, and turnover packages Ensure compliance with project quality requirements and applicable codes such as American Welding Society CWI standards , American Petroleum Institute , and pipeline specifications (such as
API 1104
experience preferred) Coordinate with field crews, project management, welders, and client representatives Monitor documentation for completeness, accuracy, and traceability Identify and communicate non-conformances or quality issues promptly Requirements Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification Must possess active CWI stamp/seal Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as required Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills Comfortable working in active construction environments and outdoors Proficient with inspection reports, spreadsheets, and construction documentation Comfortable drawing isometrics Preferred Qualifications Pipeline construction or utility welding inspection experience Familiarity with
API 1104
, hydrotest packages, weld mapping, and coating documentation Experience working with natural gas, transmission, or midstream pipeline projects NDE coordination experience is a plus
