Job Description
The Material Handler plays a crucial role in the manufacturing process by ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of materials throughout the production facility. The ideal candidate will have experience in material handling, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to safety, production and quality.
DESCRIPTION
Receive, inspect, and store raw materials such as plastic bags, additives, and packaging supplies used in bags and pouch manufacturing. Immediately report to supervisor any incident and unsafe condition identified in the workplace. Properly perform the scanning of the finished production boxes. Prepare materials for production, including loading materials onto machines such as press seal machines and pouch-making equipment. Monitor material supply levels and coordinate with other departments to replenish inventory as needed. Assist machine operators with setup and changeovers by supplying materials and removing finished products. Accurately store and organize the movement of materials. Maintain accurate inventory records using computerized systems and conduct regular cycle counts. Properly disposing of scrap materials and maintaining a clean and organized work area. Follow safety protocols and ensure that all material handling activities comply with company policies and procedures. Collaborate with production team members to optimize workflow and meet production schedules. Collaborate with other members of the production team to meet production goals and deadlines. Maintain the assigned area clean and organized. Perform all tasks with a sense of urgency and accuracy. Follow housekeeping standards and 5's methodology. Conduct other duties as assigned by management.COMPETENCIES
Able to interact and communicate with others, must be a team player. Must be flexible to the demands of production. Dependable and punctual. Mechanical ability to run equipment and use small hand tools. Basic math and measuring ability. Basic abilities using computers or electronic devices. Mental alertness to identify and react to machine processes, quality and safety issues. Ability to be organized, multitask and keep up in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed. Must be knowledgeable of GMPs and HACCP. High school diploma or equivalent.EXPERIENCE
Preferred experience in manufacturing, preferably in flexible plastic packaging. Previous experience operating pallet jack is a plus.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks. Ability to operate basic tools and measuring devices (tape measure, scale, etc.). Ability to read, write, and speak in English to effectively communicate and interpret instructions. Ability of repetitive reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, kneeling, and carrying.WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed primarily on the manufacturing floor, which may involve exposure to loud noises, machinery, high temperatures, and chemicals. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.Similar jobs in Houston, TX
