Job Description

Inspects electrical installation to verify conformance with laws and ordinances of the city and the National Electrical Code. Inspect the construction, installation, and repair of electrical light, power wiring, fixtures, appliances, and apparatus inside or running to buildings and structures for conformity to local and state codes and regulations governing electrical work. Answer questions and give information regarding local, state and national codes. Suggest desirable changes in electrical damages. Inspect electrical damages in case of fire. Explain code requirements to electrical contractors. Keep records of all inspections and prepares reports. Perform related duties as directed. Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent. State license as a master, journeyman, or residential wireman electrician with the ability to obtain a journeyman electrical license within two years of employment. Completion of a bachelor degree in electrical engineering plus relevant experience may substitute for the required license. Possess an ICC certification as an electrical inspector, or the ability to obtain the certification within one year of employment.; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following: Valid current Driver's License Journey Electrician license or: Master Electrician license or:
Residential Wireman Electric Knowledge of:
Electrical codes and local regulations governing electrical wiring.
Ability to:
Make inspections. Communicate effectively with others. Become certified by a major code group within one year of hire.
Physical Requirements:
Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Frequently stand and walk during a shift. Occasionally climb laddes, scaffolding, stairs, poles, and inclined surfaces in order to make inspections. Rotate upper trunk tot he right or left while sitting or standing. Coordinate eye, hand, and foot movement in order to operate a vehicle.
