Job Description

Alpha Corporation established in 1979, is a full-service woman-owned firm, providing civil, and structural engineering, program and construction management, project controls, and technology services for various building types, transportation, and heavy infrastructure projects. As a Senior Airport Construction Inspector , you will be responsible for performing all aspects of construction inspection on behalf of the project owner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform construction inspection to observe construction on various projects, which may involve runway construction, facility construction, and other airport elements.
  • Monitor contractor's activities and apply field testing and inspection procedures and equipment to perform required field testing to determine compliance with contracts, specifications, and engineering principles.
  • Prepare daily field reports, noting observed compliance or deficiencies.
  • Communicate findings with project managers, contractors, and/or client representatives.
  • Follow airport and additional contract safety protocols.
Required Skills /
Abilities:
  • Must be able to safely navigate a construction site.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to utilize laptops, mobile phones, and other devices effectively.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Inspection of runway construction relating to asphalt paving, striping, and lighting systems is desired.
  • Inspection of air traffic control towers, terminals, and associated airport elements is desired.
  • Knowledge of MWAA construction standards and specifications is desired.
  • Materials testing certifications relating to the inspection and testing of asphalt, concrete, soils, metals, striping, and other materials from governing bodies such as ACI, VDOT, AWS, NICET, or other governing bodies is highly desired.
Education and/or
Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED, bachelor's preferred.
  • Must demonstrate experience and ability to perform construction inspection.
  • Must have some experience in the inspection of the installation of electrical components for lighting, communication, or other project elements.
Certifications/Licenses:
  • Materials testing certifications relating to the inspection and testing of asphalt, concrete, soils, metals, striping, and other materials from governing bodies such as ACI, VDOT, AWS, NICET, or other governing bodies is highly desired.
Salary Range:
$70,000 - $105,000 Physical Demands The incumbent in this position can typically expect to sit and use his/her hands to handle and feel for more than 1/3 of the day. He/she can expect to stand or walk for more than 2/3 of the day. Talking and listening are also expected for more than 1/3 of the day. The ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or reach with arms will be needed for more than 1/3 of the day. This position requires that the incumbent be able to lift items up to 80 pounds on an infrequent basis. The incumbent in this position should have clear vision at 20 inches or less. He/she should be able to view various reports and forms as well as information displayed on a computer monitor and have the ability to distinguish between different colors.
