Job Title:
Quality Assurance Inspector Job Description The Quality Assurance Inspector plays a key role in ensuring that all tolling hardware installations meet project specifications, quality standards, and client requirements. This position focuses on managing inspection hold points, performing detailed field inspections, documenting findings, and coordinating closely with installation teams and project quality leadership. The role is ideal for a technically minded professional with a background in quality assurance, quality control, or construction inspection who enjoys working both in the field and in a structured documentation environment. Responsibilities Schedule and coordinate required hold points with the Installation Manager, project team members, and client representatives, as applicable. Provide written advance notice to the client prior to each hold point to ensure proper planning and participation. Verify that work pauses at designated hold points until client inspection is completed and written release is granted. Participate in Pre‑Activity Meetings when required by upcoming installation activities to understand scope and quality expectations. Conduct on‑site inspections of tolling hardware and related components upon delivery and during installation, including antennas, cameras, readers, controllers, mounting hardware, cabinets, and cabling. Confirm that installed materials align with approved material submittals, such as RAMs and QPLs, and Released‑for‑Installation drawings. Identify any shipping, handling, or installation‑related damage prior to or during installation and ensure issues are addressed promptly. Verify that installed work matches project design plans, specifications, and applicable standards and guidelines. Complete inspection reports for all observed installation activities using project‑approved forms, procedures, and documentation standards. Document any deficiencies, clearly describing the nature of the issue, the individuals notified, and the corrective actions taken. Maintain accurate, organized, and timely quality records to support traceability and project compliance. Support the Project Quality Manager (PQM) in maintaining the non‑conformance log and initiating Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs) when discrepancies are identified. Maintain regular communication with the installation crew and Project Quality Manager to stay informed of upcoming work activities and inspection needs. Coordinate with client field personnel to support their independent quality validation activities and ensure alignment on quality expectations. Apply hands‑on technical skills to support hardware‑related checks, troubleshooting, and verification of electronic and electrical components as needed in the field. Essential Skills background in quality assurance, quality control, or construction inspection. Ability to read and interpret construction plans, installation drawings, and equipment specifications. Strong documentation skills, including accurate completion of inspection forms and clear written communication. Reliability, attention to detail, and consistent follow‑through on assigned tasks and corrective actions. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to toll point locations throughout the project area. Ability to work on active highway corridors, outdoors, and in varying weather conditions. Willingness and ability to work nights and weekends based on lane closure schedules. Successful completion of required site access and safety requirements prior to performing field work. Hands‑on experience with hardware, electronics, or electrical systems, including installation, troubleshooting, and repair. Familiarity with AC and DC electrical systems and electronic components. Experience working with communication equipment and related field service activities. Ability to use test equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, and spectrum analyzers. Experience performing preventive maintenance, field service, and hardware repair activities. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with state Department of Transportation (DOT) or transportation authority projects. Familiarity with toll systems, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), or traffic management technologies. Inspection‑related certifications. Experience with
ISO 9001
quality management principles. Field technician or field service background supporting electronic or communication equipment. Comfort working in a fast‑paced project environment with multiple stakeholders and evolving schedules. Work Environment This role is based on‑site, and the Quality Assurance Inspector will report to the office daily before deploying to field locations as needed. The position supports a leading Intelligent Transportation Systems integrator that is rapidly growing due to increased project awards and a new installation project, providing strong job stability and a steady workload. Work is primarily performed in active highway corridors and outdoor environments, often around live traffic, requiring strict adherence to safety procedures and site access requirements. The schedule may include night and weekend shifts to align with lane closure windows and minimize traffic disruption. The role involves frequent travel to toll point locations throughout the project area. Inspectors work closely with installation crews, project quality personnel, and client field staff, using tools such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, spectrum analyzers, and other test equipment to verify hardware performance. When working in the field, steel‑toe boots are required, and jeans and sweatshirts are acceptable attire, reflecting the practical, hands‑on nature of the work. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kirkland, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $45.00/hr.
