Position:

Western Explosives Systems Company (WESCO) is a drilling and blasting company providing services throughout Arizona as well as New Mexico, Nevada, and Utah. We a currently looking for a full-time, self-motivated driller to operate one of our Sandvik Drill Rigs in Arizona. This is a fast-paced, physically demanding position that requires hard work, attention to detail, and good communication skills. Drillers will be working on various mine sites and rock quarries across the state.

Experience:

Drilling experience preferred but not mandatory. MSHA training will be provided.

Requirements:

• Must be willing to stay out of town during the work week. Hotels and per diem are provided.
• Must pass a federal background check with no felonies.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical.
• Must have a clean driving record.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Must be responsible, reliable, and ready to learn.
• Must be able to work independently.

Essential Functions:

• Always focused on safety.
• Practice behavior consistent with company policies and procedures from applicable technical modules, all company SOP, work site, regulatory and safety policies, and procedures.
• Ability to perform a thorough drill area inspection and workplace examination.
• Perform pre-shift and post-shift safety inspection and complete daily equipment reports.
• Log a detailed description of the drill hole.
• Willing and capable of performing preventative maintenance on drills.
• Responsible for maintaining, servicing, repairing, and operating drilling equipment.
• Log a detailed description of the drill hole.
• Report on conditions of the machine and site to the supervisor.
• Report any potentially unsafe conditions and use equipment and materials properly.
• Occasionally help with loading blast holes under the direction of the blaster in charge.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and managers.
• Understand the various methods of determining angles & drill depths of face holes or presplit.
• Ability to manage tooling costs.

Working Environment:

Must be able to work primarily outdoors in all weather conditions, temperatures, and climates. SAFETY is a top priority for us. We follow MSHA regulations. Must wear personal protective equipment

• steel toed boots are required.

All PPE will be issued to the employees by WESCO.

Schedule:

This is a full-time position workingMonday

• Friday with an occasional Saturday.

Early AM start time. Must live in AZ, preferably within the Phoenix metro area. Wesco provides drilling and blasting services for numerous sites around the state of Arizona therefore drillers will be required to stay out of town during the week, with hotel and per diem paid for on overnight stays. Once training has been completed a company pickup will be furnished to the employee.

Pay:

$23.00/hour. Per diem and hotel included, when applicable.
