Telecom Horizontal Directional Driller (HDD Operator) Pacific Tech Communications inc Phoenix, AZ Job Details Full-time From $28 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications CDL B Outdoor work Safety standards in production CDL A Telecommunication Directional drilling Full Job Description About the Company Pacific Tech Communications Inc. is a rapidly growing, multi-state telecom construction company specializing in fiber-optic infrastructure, including microtrenching, aerial and underground construction, splicing, and horizontal directional drilling (HDD). We are seeking experienced HDD Operators / Horizontal Directional Drillers to support high-volume fiber construction projects in the Sacramento market and surrounding areas. Key Responsibilities Operate HDD drill rigs (Ditch Witch, Vermeer, or similar) Perform fiber and conduit bores in urban and suburban environments Follow bore plans, profiles, and utility locates Maintain bore depth, alignment, and required clearances Mix and manage drilling fluids (mud systems) Conduct daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance Coordinate with locator, laborers, and supervisors Ensure safe drilling practices around existing utilities Maintain production and quality standards on fiber projects Production Scope Fiber conduit installation Road and street crossings Sidewalk and driveway bores Long-distance fiber shots Congested urban drilling Steady, long-term production work available. Requirements 3+ years HDD drilling experience (telecom/fiber preferred) Ability to operate drill rigs independently Experience reading bore prints and profiles Knowledge of utility clearance and safety standards Valid driver's license required Ability to work outdoors full-time Plus / Preferred Qualifications CDL (Class A or B) Experience working on AT&T fiber projects Experience in urban fiber construction environments Ability to support crew leadership or foreman duties Experience with conduit placement and fiber infrastructure
