Job Description

Position Overview The Underground Driller Assistant is responsible for assisting the UG Driller and/or Toolpusher in a variety of labor-intensive tasks to ensure safe, efficient, and productive drilling. The UG Driller Assistant will work 20 days on and 10 days off. Essential Functions Demonstrate a strong commitment to safe work practices and procedures. Participate in Toolbox Safety meetings. Assist in safe and efficient drill site moves and setup. Assist in collecting and handling samples, handling drill rods and drilling tools, mixing mud, and other labor-intensive tasks as assigned. Perform servicing and operation of equipment, including light and heavy-duty vehicles, water trucks, cranes, forklifts, track-mounted utility vehicles, etc. Ability to work at heights. Maintain a clean and organized work area following all housekeeping requirements. Perform and document daily and/or periodic pre-shift site and equipment inspections. Maintain clear, concise communication with the UG Driller and Toolpusher regarding vehicle/equipment service and supplies needed. Maintain production standards and timeline requirements as directed by the UG Driller and/or Toolpusher. Report to work each shift on time and fit for duty. Exhibit a strong work ethic with the drive and desire to learn and perform tasks efficiently. Maintain effective and collaborative workplace relationships, treating others with dignity and respect. Qualifications Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug (including the use of marijuana) and alcohol screening, Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), and additional background screening as required by regulation and/or industry practice. Must have a valid driver's license. Ability to work 12 hours per day plus travel time, to and from the rig, and work in extreme weather conditions in geographically isolated areas. Experience in Underground operations preferred. Ability to work 20 days on/10 days off schedule. Basic knowledge of mechanics related to drills, diesel, and gasoline-powered engines, hydraulics, and electrical preferred. Ability to personally handle heavy wrenches, lift and/or carry heavy tools or supplies (up to 100 lbs.), and operate levers with both hands. Must maintain a good attendance record. Ability to be clean-shaven and pass a respirator fit test to wear a respirator. Strong interest and ability to learn, develop, and grow within National EWP.
