Project Manager Job Summary:
This position is responsible for the operation of various equipment utilized to perform underground construction projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate construction equipment, including but not limited to a mini excavator, skid steer, bore drill, drop trench machinery, directional drill operation on 15,000 lb. machines, backhoe, trencher, and plow Load, transport, and unload tools, materials, and equipment in a safe manner Locate cables in accordance with blueprints Identify marked and/or unmarked utilities in the construction area Perform pre and post operation inspection of the equipment; ensure routine equipment maintenance is performed per service requirements and safety guidelines Hand dig utilizing shovel and/or other mechanical tools as required Organize materials and basic hand tools necessary to complete excavation requirements Restore and/or landscape disturbed areas of the job site Complete all required Company documentation Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.
Education:
High school diploma, general education degree (G.E.D.), or related trade school education
Experience:
One to two years' experience drilling in standard and high-risk areas One to two years' experience as a locator Experience using mud mixing devices and bore gel Commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred Knowledge of highway traffic control standards
Technical Skills:
Ability to read and understand blueprints Knowledge of utility depths and placement Ability to read and interpret design prints
Soft Skills:
Ability to read, comprehend, and carry out instructions Ability to detect errors, determine causes, and make corrections as appropriate Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing Must have a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets Company requirements Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 75 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes Ability to work in various settings with moderate to loud noise levels Ability to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather Ability to work in trenches, tunnels, and manholes May be required to work long and unpredictable hours
