Full-Time, Direct Hire Compensation:
$18.00 - $22.00/hr (Entry-Level/Laborer) | $22.00 - $25.00/hr (Experienced/Skilled) Overtime paid at 1.5x after 40 hours.
Schedule:
Monday - Friday | Start time between 5:30 AM and 6:30 AM | End times vary (Expect 10-12 hour days, averaging 55 hours/week). About the Role We are seeking a hardworking, dependable Geotechnical Apprentice to join our field operations team. This is a direct-hire, entry-to-mid-level career opportunity where you will learn a specialized, high-demand trade. In this role, you will work alongside an experienced Driller to support the operation and maintenance of drilling rigs used to collect subsurface soil and rock samples. Your work directly provides the critical data needed to safely build major construction and infrastructure projects across the region.
What Your Day-to-Day Looks Like Rig Support & Setup:
Help mobilize, safely position, set up, and dismantle drilling rigs and support equipment at various job sites.
Material Handling:
Load, unload, and move heavy drill rods, casing, and core boxes weighing between 50 to 100 lbs throughout the day.
Drilling Operations Support:
Assist the lead driller with specific techniques like auger drilling, mud rotary, and rock coring to extract sub-surface samples.
Sample Management:
Help collect, accurately label, organize, and package soil and rock core samples for laboratory testing.
Maintenance & Housekeeping:
Perform routine cleaning, greasing, and preventative maintenance on rigs and support vehicles to ensure they are safe and operational.
Site Safety:
Help set up traffic control zones, maintain a clean work area, and strictly follow OSHA safety protocols to keep yourself and your team safe.
Position Requirements Valid Driver's License:
Must have a clean driving history, as you will operate a company support vehicle daily.
Physical Stamina:
Ability to lift, push, and carry 50 to 100 lbs regularly. Must be comfortable working on your feet for long hours in all outdoor weather conditions (heat, rain, cold).
Schedule Flexibility:
Ability to work consistent overtime (averaging 55 hours a week) with early morning start times (5:30 AM - 6:30 AM).
Travel Readiness:
The majority of our projects will have you home every night. However, occasional out-of-town project travel is required.
Travel Perk:
100% of travel/lodging expenses are paid by the company, plus a $60/day per diem allowance.
